Academic and professional literature publisher Emerald Group Publishing Limited, UK, has announced that it will be collaborating with the University Vocational Awards Council (UVAC) to develop a new journal - Higher Education, Skills and Work-Based Learning. Professor Paul Gibbs of Middlesex University will serve as the editor of the journal.
UVAC is a not-for-profit membership organisation comprising more than 100 higher education institutions and further education colleges from across the UK. It provides the voice for higher education institutions committed to championing and mainstreaming innovation in higher level vocational learning.
Higher education has a fundamental role in up skilling the workforce and developing the vocational skills of new entrants to the workforce. The new journal will support academic debate in this area and the dissemination and application of innovation and good practice. It will seek to identify how skills, gaps and shortages can be addressed through the provision of higher level work-based learning. Also, the journal will showcase UK innovation in the development, marketing, delivery, validation and evaluation of higher level work-based learning.
