Emerald Publishing and Sweden’s Bibsam Consortium sign three-year transformative agreement -

Emerald Publishing has signed its first transformative open access agreement with the Bibsam Consortium.

This progressive deal will run from 2021 until 2023, and it will enhance the publishing journey for researchers from 29 of its academic member’s institutions through access to more than 200,000 articles from 310 journals as well as publishing vouchers to accommodate all of their needs.

Building on Emerald’s goal of reducing the participation and access barriers to publishing open, the agreement includes APCs and Open Access vouchers which can be used in all Emerald hybrid journals, Gold OA journals and Emerald Open Research; the open peer review platform that supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Emerald Publishing was recently recognised for their innovation, creativity and vision when they were awarded Independent Publisher of the Year and Academic and Professional Publisher of the Year by the Independent Publishers Guild.

The Bibsam consortium is operated by the National Library of Sweden. It was formed in 1996 and has 85 active participating institutions including universities, university colleges, and government-funded research institutions. Representatives from the participating organizations form the Bibsam steering committee, which works on strategic issues and policies regarding e-licensing in general and negotiations in particular.
