Academic publisher Emerald Publishing is a co-organiser and sponsor of Peer Review Week 2017, September 11-17, with its theme of 'Transparency'. Peer Review Week is a global event celebrating the essential role that peer review plays in maintaining scientific quality.
The event brings together individuals, institutions and organisations committed to sharing the central message that good peer review, whatever shape or form it might take, is critical to scholarly communications.
Emerald provides a number of resources to help drive the quality of peer review and support its reviewer communities, including practical tips and guidance on all aspects of the peer review process, as well as a reviewer reward scheme.
Emerald also recognises that, without the efforts and dedication of reviewers, Emerald journals would not have the right to be called scholarly and therefore include a much-coveted 'Outstanding Reviewer Award' in its annual Literati Awards programme.
Emerald has also recently extended its partnership with Publons, which works with peer reviewers, academic publishers, and research institutions to make peer review a rewarding activity. Established in 2013, the company collects information from peer reviewers and publishers to produce comprehensive reviewer profiles with publisher-verified peer review contributions that researchers can add to their resume without breaking reviewer anonymity.
