Academic and professional literature publisher Emerald Group Publishing Ltd., UK, has announced that it will be the main publishing partner of the world's first global, purely virtual climate conference, 'Klima 2008 / Climate 2008'. The event takes place online at www.klima2008.net from November 3 - 7, 2008. Registration is free, allowing participants to interact, access, comment and discuss a wide range of scientific papers focusing on climate change from environmental, social, economic and policy aspects.
'Klima 2008 / Climate 2008' is expected to attract around 70,000 registered users from universities, research agencies, government offices, NGOs and over 1 million users who will click in to access the latest information on climate change. 72 nations are currently represented in the conference.
The online event is organised by the Faculty of Life Sciences of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg, Germany, under the leadership of Professor Walter Leal Filho, Head of Research and Transfer Centre 'Applications of Life Sciences'. Professor Walter Leal Filho is also the Editor of the International Journal of Climate Change Strategies and Management which Emerald will be launching in early 2009.
In collaboration with Emerald, a 'Best Paper Award' will be selected by the organisers and the scientific committee, taking into account the votes of users, among the scientific papers submitted to 'Klima 2008 / Climate 2008'.
Other partners to the Conference include the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
