Academic and professional publisher Emerald Group Publishing Ltd., UK, has announced the launch of Emerald Backfiles in conjunction with the ALA Midwinter conference, to be held January 11-16, 2008 in Philadelphia.
Emerald is releasing the digitisation of the full archive of its journal titles in business, management, library and information services, materials science, and engineering. Working with the British Library, more than 50,000 articles, some going back to the 1800s, are now in PDF format and available electronically for the first time.
To mark the launch of Backfiles, Emerald is delighted to offer a limited number of free copies of the first issue of New Library World. The issue entitled 'The Library World: a Medium of Intercommunication for Librarians,' dates back to July 1898. New Library World celebrates its 110th anniversary in 2008 and will join the many titles included in Emerald Backfiles.
