Academic publisher Emerald Publishing has been awarded the Academic & Professional Publisher of the Year Award at the 2018 IPG Independent Publishing Awards. Launched in 2007 and run by the Independent Publishers Guild (IPG), the Independent Publishing Awards are the UK's biggest annual celebration of independent publishing. The awards reward outstanding achievement in different sectors and aspects of publishing.
This was the first time that Emerald Publishing had entered the IPG Awards. The judges praised Emerald for its achievements during their 50th anniversary last year. These included: their universally well-received rebrand; the success of the books publishing programme; the enhancements to the EmeraldInsight.com research platform; and the respective launches of an Author Hub and their Open Access programme Emerald Reach.
The IPG Academic & Professional Publisher of the Year award comes hot on the heels of a coveted PROSE award for The Century of Science: The Global Triumph of the Research University edited by Justin J. W. Powell David P. Baker and Frank Fernandez and published by Emerald.
