EPJ Applied Physics adopts NESTOR editorial platform -

EPJ Applied Physics, an international peer-reviewed journal focusing on applied physics and materials science, has transitioned to NESTOR, a new editorial submission system developed by EDP Sciences. This change replaces the previous MMS platform and reflects an effort to enhance the submission and peer review experience.

NESTOR—short for New Editorial System Tool for Research—has been designed to support the full publishing workflow with a streamlined, secure, and user-oriented interface. The platform integrates features aimed at improving efficiency and transparency across editorial processes, including:

• Support for unrestricted file sizes

• LaTeX compatibility with automated metadata extraction

• ORCID-based authentication

• Advanced co-author and referee management tools

• Configurable workflows by article type

• Integrated plagiarism detection using Similarity Check (Crossref)

• Full accessibility support and improved search functionality

The platform also includes secure login protocols, robust data handling, and scalability to accommodate growing submission volumes. All data from the previous MMS system has been securely migrated to ensure continuity.

The adoption of NESTOR is part of EPJ Applied Physics’ broader commitment to delivering a high-quality publishing experience for authors, reviewers, and editors. User guides are available, and editorial support remains in place to assist with the new system.
