eSciDoc Days event in Copenhagen to examine e-research infrastructure -

Germany's FIZ Karlsruhe - Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure, and the Max Planck Society - Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL) have announced that the third eSciDoc Days will be held at the Royal Library in Copenhagen on November 16-17, 2010. In a strategic partnership, the two organisations are developing eSciDoc, an open source e-research infrastructure for web-based scientific work, in a multidisciplinary environment. eSciDoc seeks to support the entire scientific value generation process, from the first idea to experiments, data analysis and evaluation, and the publication of the results.

At this year's eSciDoc Days, existing applications from various scientific disciplines will be presented. Workshops and lectures with practical relevance will give a comprehensive overview of eSciDoc and how to employ it. Tutorials will help participants familiarise themselves with installing the eSciDoc infrastructure and developing eSciDoc applications. There is also room to discuss future developments with experts from FIZ Karlsruhe and the MPDL.

The keynote speakers at this year's eSciDoc Days will give an overview of current developments in scientific communication. Birte Christensen-Dalsgaard from the University of Copenhagen will hold a lecture on 'The change of scholarly communication - and some consequences', and Dr. Laurent Romary, INRIA & HUB-IDSL, will talk about 'Outlining a scholarly workbench - publication and data as a continuum'.

The programme of eSciDoc Days 2010 is available online at https://www.escidoc.org.
