ETH Zurich opts for Ex Libris discovery and delivery interface -

Library solutions provider Ex Libris, Germany, has announced that the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich) has selected the company's Primo discovery and delivery solution. Primo will constitute a key element of the ETH Knowledge Portal, which goes beyond a standard library project.

ETH Zurich is a science and technology university with 16 departments focusing mainly on engineering sciences, architecture, system-oriented sciences, mathematics, and natural sciences. Nearly 18,000 people from 80 nations study and conduct research that is highly valued worldwide.

The ETH-Bibliothek is the largest library in Switzerland and the main library of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. The library holds more than 6.9 million items, including maps, old prints, audiovisual materials, journals, databases, and much more. Special emphasis is given to innovative library services and to the electronic resources that the faculty, staff, and students access at ETH Zurich.

Primo is claimed to be a one-stop solution for the discovery and delivery of local and remote resources, such as books, journal articles and digital objects. It assists libraries in fully utilising their collections and offering users an up-to-date discovery and delivery experience. Primo services can be embedded in commonly used applications such as course management systems and institutional portals, helping library serve users wherever they are.
