The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has launched a procurement procedure to identify a publishing partner for its main scientific publication, the EFSA Journal. The services required include editorial and production, hosting and marketing and the contract is valued at EUR 3 million for a period of up to six years.
The EFSA Journal provides open access to the Authority’s scientific advice and presents an exciting opportunity for a publisher to work with a European Agency in developing its publishing programme.
Established in 2002, EFSA is an EU Agency that provides the evidence base to underpin European food and feed safety policy. Based in Parma, Italy, EFSA is tasked by the European Commission, Member States and European Parliament to address risks across the food chain and to communicate on those risks to a wide audience. EFSA also has a central coordinating role in collecting and analysing data relating to foodborne diseases, diet and other key public health issues such as antimicrobial resistance, as well as the development of new methodologies to address emerging risks.
