Tiago Correia has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Public Health (EJPH), the scientific journal of the European Public Health Association (EUPHA).
Tiago Correia is an Associate Professor of Global Public Health at the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, in Portugal.
The EJPH is described as a long-established journal for public health in Europe that combines scientific research with policy relevance.
The appointment occurs during a period described as one of significant transformation for public health, with multiple challenges affecting the field.
In the Editor-in-Chief role, Tiago Correia is expected to strengthen the journal’s focus on publishing work that connects empirical research with governance, decision-making, policy implementation, and public health practice.
A stated priority for the position is closer alignment between the European Journal of Public Health and the EUPHA community, including its Sections, which reflect a range of disciplines, methods, and policy domains shaping European public health.
To ensure continuity, Tiago Correia will work closely with Peter Allebeck, the current Editor-in-Chief, during a transition period over the coming months.
The handover period is intended to support knowledge transfer and maintain the journal’s editorial standards.
EUPHA has indicated it will support Tiago Correia in the role and the continued development of the European Journal of Public Health as a platform for public health research and debate in Europe.
