Ex Libris announces enhancements to the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution -

Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, has announced enhancements to the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution that improve the user experience and empower libraries to better meet their users' needs through customisation of the Primo interface.

A new enhancement is Primo Studio, an online tool for customising the user interface and for sharing addons and user interface elements contributed by community members. With Primo Studio, libraries can easily extend their institution's brand, customise the Primo user-interface design—with real-time previews of the changes—and leverage features and apps submitted by other Primo customers. Activating such apps and customised interface elements can be done with just one click.

Other enhancements include a dedicated newspaper search interface within the Primo user interface. With this feature, libraries benefit from increased visibility of their news collections while patrons enjoy improved discovery and access to over one billion items of this specialised content. In addition, libraries can now foster greater resource awareness and improve usability with a new Open Access facet and enhancements to Resource Recommender.

A week-long Primo hackathon, including a live YouTube event and ongoing collaboration and support throughout the event, provided customers with the opportunity to share ideas and develop community apps for Primo Studio.
