Ex Libris announces new release of the Summon® discovery service -

Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced a new release of the Summon® discovery service. This release helps libraries further address researcher and student needs and improve their users' experience. Patrons will benefit from interface and system enhancements, increased opportunities for discovering content through subject-specific searches, and easy access to course reserves through search results.

A significant feature in the new release enables patrons to explore content through subject-term searches: subject-term links appear within Summon results and on catalogue detail pages to help users discover relevant content. The Summon release also enhances teaching and learning by enabling patrons to discover and access course reserves through search results, leveraging the integration between Summon and the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform.

Libraries can also immediately take advantage of many customer-requested interface and system-level enhancements, which include improved accessibility, more intuitive facet navigation, and options for customising icons and background colours. Additionally, the new release enhances relevancy of English search results through improved handling of punctuation and special characters, use of synonyms, and stemming. Lastly, the new release integrates with Open Athens and supports the most recent version of AngularJS.
