Ex Libris, a part of Clarivate, is delighted to announce that Alma, its unified resource management platform, has achieved a major milestone with over 2500 institutions worldwide adopting the platform. This accomplishment is attributed to the recent selection of Alma by more than 180 libraries in 2023 and over 500 libraries since 2021.
The widespread and ongoing adoption of Alma as the preferred library solution underscores its proven ability to streamline the management of library electronic, print, and digital collections. In addition to its core services and valuable functionalities, the robust Alma community and the strong relationship with Ex Libris have played pivotal roles in this rapid growth. Customers benefit from open communication channels that allow them to influence the development process, share knowledge to enhance the service, and engage in educational opportunities through listservs, the Idea Exchange, the Developer’s Network, user group events, and more.
Beyond addressing current library resource management challenges, Alma continues to evolve to meet the diverse needs of libraries globally. Since the beginning of 2023, more than 400 enhancements have been introduced for Alma. The published roadmap for 2024 outlines opportunities for libraries to enhance effectiveness and efficiency in open access and collaboration. Alma also explores the integration of linked open data and artificial intelligence.
In recent months, several Alma community members have shared and celebrated their Alma stories, showcasing the platform's impact on library operations and resource management. Some highlighted Alma stories include Spokane Community College, Dartmouth Library, SBART Italy, Washtenaw Community College, and the University of Nevada – Reno.
