Ex Libris has released an updated Alma roadmap outlining new features and strategic developments planned from mid-2025 through 2026. The updates, shaped with input from the Alma community, focus on artificial intelligence, open data, and collaborative network enhancements to support more efficient library services.
Key features in the roadmap include:
Linked Open Data Editor (Early Access): Expands Alma’s capabilities in handling linked open data, offering users greater flexibility and control.
Alma AI-Powered Insights: Provides libraries with usage insights to support informed decision-making.
Open Access Analytics: Offers tools to optimize resource allocation and enhance investment value.
Collaborative Network Enhancements: Strengthens collaboration within networks, improving efficiency and supporting joint initiatives.
Collection Development Dashboards: Introduces services for central offices to manage collection development more effectively for all member libraries.
The roadmap also builds on Library Open Workflows, now generally available, with additional enhancements planned to address broader library workflow scenarios. Ex Libris said its structured release plan will include quarterly updates and regular maintenance, ensuring consistent progress. The company emphasized that the roadmap is designed to simplify workflows, expand collaborative opportunities, and help libraries adapt to evolving user expectations while maintaining reliable development cycles.
