Excerpta Medica to offer Elsevier's Physician and Patient Educational content to help Pharma Companies fulfill 2009 pharma guidelines -

Excerpta Medica, part of STM publisher Elsevier, Netherlands, has announced that it will offer pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies new medically relevant products customised from various well-known Elsevier brands developed in response to recent changes made in the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association's code on interactions with healthcare providers. Slated to go into effect in January 2009, the code recommends physician-mediated patient education over more traditional approaches such as meeting sponsorships, promotional giveaways.

Elsevier's respected medical brands include Gray's Anatomy, MD Consult and The Atlas of Human Anatomy by Dr. Frank H. Netter. Excerpta Medica's educational products cover a wide variety of timely health and medical topics and therapeutic areas - from primary care and cardiology to oncology, rheumatology and respiratory diseases to name a few. Educational media include handheld pocket educators, 3-D models, flash cards, flip and wall charts, patient handouts and checklists, plus interactive and web-based programmes, including iPod and iPhone offerings.

In addition to benefiting from Elsevier's experience in health and medical publishing, pharmaceutical companies will appreciate Excerpta Medica's ability to customise and brand physician and patient educational materials while meeting the needs of just about any physician practice, while still being fully PhRMA compliant.
