FASEB journals launch new 'Research Letters' format for rapid scientific communication -

The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) has announced the introduction of a new article format, Research Letters, across its flagship publications, The FASEB Journal and FASEB BioAdvances. This new format is designed to provide researchers with a fast and efficient way to publish concise yet impactful scientific discoveries.

As the pace of scientific advancements continues to accelerate, the demand for platforms that enable the rapid dissemination of key research findings has grown significantly. FASEB’s new Research Letters are tailored to meet this demand, offering a streamlined approach that maintains the high standards of scientific rigor while encouraging clear and focused reporting.

Research Letters are specifically designed to emphasize clarity and precision, with the following features:

• Concise length of up to 1,500 words.

• Inclusion of up to two figures, each with a maximum of six panels.

• Fast-track editorial review process, typically completed within 1-2 business days by the Editor-in-Chief.

• Requirement for graphical abstracts to enhance visual communication, without affecting the figure limit.

• Space for up to 10 references to support the presented research.

The new Research Letters format is ideal for publishing:

• Preliminary findings that warrant rapid communication to the scientific community.

• Methodological advancements that can significantly impact ongoing research.

• Concise data-driven insights that, while brief, hold substantial value for advancing scientific knowledge.

By accommodating high-quality data that may not fit the traditional, lengthy article structure, Research Letters aim to broaden the scope of contributions to the scientific literature. This new article type is expected to enhance the reach and diversity of the research published in FASEB journals, encouraging a more dynamic exchange of ideas across the field.

FASEB invites researchers to submit their work under the new Research Letters format. Detailed submission guidelines can be found on the FASEB Journals website. The introduction of this format underscores FASEB's commitment to providing versatile publication options that cater to the evolving needs of the scientific community.
