FCCN, the digital services unit of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), has become a supporter of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) as part of efforts to strengthen Diamond open access publishing in Portugal.
The collaboration will build on PUB In, a joint platform of FCCN and the University of Minho designed to professionalize open access publishing through shared practices, training, and support for editorial teams. The initiative aims to help Portuguese journals meet international standards, improve quality assurance, and enhance visibility and discoverability in the global research landscape.
Portugal has an expanding network of Diamond open access journals managed by universities and research organizations. The new support from FCCN is expected to increase their global reach and reinforce the country’s role in Diamond open access publishing.
DOAJ stated that the partnership with FCCN aligns with its broader mission to promote inclusive, transparent, and collaborative approaches to scholarly publishing.
