The European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH) has announced renewed financial support from the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), reinforcing a shared commitment to advancing Diamond Open Access publishing across Europe.
This funding builds on FCT’s previous support and strengthens collaboration with Portugal’s National Diamond Capacity Centre, PUBIN, which is managed by FCCN, FCT’s digital services, and the University of Minho.
FCT stated that its continued support for the EDCH reflects a broader commitment to Open Science and sustainable scholarly communication infrastructures. The organization emphasized that the collaboration with EDCH and PUBIN contributes to a more inclusive, high‑quality, and community‑governed publishing landscape, fostering cooperation and knowledge sharing across Europe.
EDCH co‑coordinators Pierre Mounier and Johan Rooryck noted that the renewed support from FCT demonstrates growing commitment to strengthening Diamond Open Access. They explained that the funding will help EDCH further develop services, build capacity, and connect Diamond OA communities across Europe, with particular focus on collaboration with PUBIN and the Portuguese OA community.
The continued partnership ensures that Diamond Open Access publishing remains sustainable, high quality, and accessible across Europe. It also highlights the importance of linking national expertise with European collaboration to build resilient and equitable scholarly publishing infrastructures.
