Figshare is launching a free portal at https://COVID19.figshare.com/ to allow researchers to publish any COVID-19 related research. Figshare aims to aid in the rapid dissemination of research in any form, be it preprints, datasets, presentations, or software. There are many questions and opportunities that have been raised around open research in recent weeks and the uncertainty presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and the effect it will have on the global population.
The Figshare COVID-19 Open Research Portal will be dedicated to storing and sharing all existing coronavirus research across Figshare as well as all new COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2 research that is submitted in the weeks and months ahead.
Researchers are required to create an account on Figshare and upload content with COVID-19 as one of the keywords on their metadata form and Figshare will pull it into the COVID-19 Open Research Portal. If the dataset is larger than what Figshare’s free accounts normally allow, researchers can contact support@figshare.com to modify account’s storage to ensure the research can be published. If an institution uses Figshare as a data or institutional repository, researchers can continue to use that platform to store and share the COVID-19 research.
