Finalists announced for ALPSP Impact and Innovation Awards 2025 -

The Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) has revealed the finalists for two of its awards: the ALPSP Impact Award and the ALPSP Award for Innovation in Publishing. Both awards recognize initiatives that significantly advance scholarly publishing and communications.

The ALPSP Impact Award celebrates projects or collaborations with demonstrated benefits to the publishing community, while the Award for Innovation in Publishing highlights novel products, services, or developments offering tangible value to scholarly communication. Both awards are sponsored by PA EDitorial.

Among the Impact Award finalists are Frontiers for Young Minds, a non-profit project that brings young readers into the peer review process, and Atom Grants, an AI-driven platform that streamlines how universities and researchers identify and manage funding opportunities.

Shortlisted for the Innovation in Publishing category are AI Talks with Bone & Joint, which uses automation to convert academic papers into audio content; Thoth Open Metadata, a platform enhancing Open Access publishing through open metadata services; an AI-powered editorial screening tool that supports research transparency and reproducibility; and Alchemist Review, which uses advanced AI to analyze manuscripts through deep textual analysis, citation validation, and contextual quality assessment.

Judging panel chair David Sommer noted the high caliber and originality of this year’s entries, which will be showcased at the ALPSP Annual Conference and Awards in Manchester, UK, 10-12 September 2025. Winners will be announced during the conference dinner.

ALPSP represents over 320 scholarly and professional publishing organizations globally, supporting initiatives that foster innovation, transparency, and integrity in the scholarly publishing sector.
