Finalists announced for the 2025 EPIC Awards -

The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP), an organization dedicated to advancing scholarly communication, has announced the finalists for the inaugural Excellence in Publishing, Information Technology, and Communications (EPIC) Awards. The winners will be revealed during the EPIC Awards Ceremony on May 29, 2025, at SSP’s 47th Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland.

The EPIC Awards, launched this year, aim to recognize notable achievements by individuals and teams contributing to scholarly publishing through innovation, collaboration, and creative initiatives. Finalists have been selected across five primary categories, encompassing multiple subcategories designed to reflect the diverse contributions shaping scholarly communication. Winners will be named at the Awards Ceremony, held as part of the Annual Meeting.

The Awards seek to highlight significant advancements and ideas emerging within the community. SSP leadership emphasized the importance of acknowledging the efforts represented by this year’s nominees, noting their contributions to progress within the field of scholarly publishing.

Coinciding with SSP’s Annual Meeting, which takes place from May 28 to 30, 2025, in Baltimore, the EPIC Awards Celebration is intended to bring together industry leaders, innovators, and early-career professionals to recognize achievements across the sector. Tickets for the event are currently available.

SSP expressed its appreciation to all who submitted entries for the inaugural awards. More than 90 submissions were received, reflecting the depth of innovation and commitment present throughout the scholarly publishing community. While a limited number of finalists could be selected, each submission offered important insights into the future of scholarly communication. The next call for entries for the 2026 EPIC Awards will open in late 2025.
