Five German private university libraries enhance services with Alma and Primo solutions -

Ex Libris, part of Clarivate, has announced that five prestigious private university libraries in Germany have selected Alma and Primo as their new library management and discovery solutions. This strategic move reflects the libraries’ commitment to improving their operational efficiency and providing outstanding services to their users.

The group of institutions includes MSH Medical School Hamburg – University of Applied Sciences and Medical University (MSH), MSB Medical School Berlin – Hochschule für Gesundheit und Medizin (MSB), BSP Business & Law School – Hochschule für Management und Recht, HMU Health and Medical University in Potsdam (HMU), and HMU Health and Medical University Erfurt (HMU Erfurt). These institutions recognized the importance of streamlining their operations and eliminating redundancies, while maintaining the individuality of each library’s unique collections and services.

The implementation of Alma and Primo will significantly improve the management of electronic collections, a critical area as the number of digital subscriptions continues to rise. With Alma, library staff will be able to better administer and optimize their electronic resources, ensuring these costly assets are fully utilized. The shared environment across the five libraries will foster improved collaboration, allow for more efficient staff allocation, and simplify daily operations, ultimately driving operational excellence.

For library users, the adoption of Alma with Primo brings enhanced discovery and access to resources. The unified system will provide an improved user experience, making it easier for students, faculty, and staff to find and access the electronic content they need. The intuitive and user-friendly interface will simplify the search and delivery processes, supporting academic success by streamlining access to essential materials.

This strategic decision underscores the growing importance of integrated library management systems that allow academic libraries to efficiently manage and deliver an ever-expanding range of resources. With Alma and Primo, these five institutions are setting a strong foundation for future growth and ensuring their libraries are equipped to meet the needs of the modern academic community.
