Academic publisher SAGE, US, has announced that Library Journal has selected four SAGE Reference titles to be included in its annual Best Reference 2010: Print, Electronic and Free Reference Resources feature. This was announced in Library Journal's April 15, 2011 issue. SAGE was said to be among the publishers that dominated the 2010 list, both in terms of quality and quantity of major new works.
The four titles include the Encyclopedia of Educational Reform and Dissent, edited by Thomas C. Hunt; the Encyclopedia of Science and Technology Communication, edited by Susanna Hornig Priest; the Encyclopedia of Geography, edited by Barney Warf; and the Encyclopedia of Sports Medicine, edited by Lyle J. Micheli.
The annual Library Journal Best Reference list seeks to recognise the top reference titles that have been reviewed in the journal during the previous year. The selected SAGE Reference titles are seen to reflect a diversity of subjects, representing the company's growing and diverse list of significant reference resources in the social sciences, health, business and science.
SAGE titles have reportedly earned other prestigious recognition recently as well. Choice included 10 SAGE titles in its Outstanding Academic Title list. The Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) honoured five SAGE titles as 2011 Outstanding Reference Sources, with one of them chosen as a Best Business Reference book by RUSA's business section, BRASS.
