The annual Frankfurt Book Fair kicked off October 10, 2012. More than 7,000 exhibitors from 100 countries are attending the Frankfurt Book Fair this year.
Digital forms of books is the central theme of conversations at the 2012 Frankfurt Book Fair. A number of sessions on interactive books, eBooks and similar topics were held on the opening day of the Fair.
Zuuka GmbH's session about apps and eBooks for kids offered an overview of changes it was observing in 2012 including the new iBooks reader, the iBooks Author, epub3 and significant innovations in and around apps.
Litcam hosted a conference entitled 'Innovative Teaching and Learning.' The whiteboards, e-learning, digital learning platforms and tablets instead of schoolbooks suggest new technologies are on the rise. The event offered some insight into reality and what is actually happening in the classroom.
eBook production and distribution were also frequent topics of discussion. One very novel concept was introduced by eBookPlus. Its platform is capable of enabling content monetisation in the form of non-intrusive ads in eBooks.
Epuble GmbH presented 'Self-Publishing: Your idea, your book.' The session demonstrated how an author can create a book or eBook from a PDF file and publish through multiple sales channels.
