Frankfurt Book Fair and MEF partner to support Mobile Hot Spot at 2012 Frankfurt trade show -

The Frankfurt Book Fair and MEF, the global community for mobile content and commerce, have entered into a co-operative agreement. Under the deal, MEF will be an official partner of the Mobile Hot Spot at the Frankfurt Book Fair, scheduled for October 10 – 14, 2012. The Frankfurt Book Fair will be an official supporting organisation and judge of this year’s Meffys Awards.

The Mobile Hot Spot in Hall 6.1 at the book fair is a dedicated area that will be showcasing hardware suppliers, app developers, service providers and technology vendors associated with mobile reading and publishing.

MEF has been running the Meffys for nine years, and in that time the awards have become widely regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the mobile industry. This year a new ‘Best Publisher on Mobile’ category has been launched and Caroline Vogel, Head of Digital & Creative Content at the Frankfurt Book Fair, will be one of the international judges.

Publishers from all over the world can enter the Meffys and for a limited time will receive a 30 per cent discount on the registration fee. Companies are invited to submit entries in 13 categories until the deadline of July 9th. The 2012 winners will be announced at a gala dinner on September 12, 2012 at the prestigious Park Lane Hotel in Mayfair.

Judged by an independent and uniquely international panel of journalists, academics, analysts and VCs, the Meffys are the global benchmark for measuring success and rewarding innovation in mobile content and commerce. Last year, more than 350 industry leaders from over 30 countries gathered in London to attend the Meffys, reflecting their stature as the premier global awards for the mobile content and commerce industry.

New categories for 2012 include the Consumer Trust and Social Responsibility & Development Awards, reflecting key focus areas for MEF in 2012 and mobile’s ever-expanding role in consumers’ lives. Other new categories include Publisher on Mobile, Life Tools App and Brand on Mobile, recognising the breadth and scale of mobile content and commerce.

In addition to the new awards, all nominees in each of the four innovation categories will be given the opportunity to pitch to the C-level executives at the MEF CEO Summit to be held at City Hall, on the evening preceding the Meffys. The CEOs will then vote to determine the most innovative mobile product or service and the winner of this ‘CEO Summit Award for Innovation’ will be honoured at the Meffys Gala Awards Dinner.
