Frankfurt SPARKS, the digital initiative of the Frankfurt Book Fair launched last year, is expected to be successful in 2011 as well. As part of the initiative, the new StoryDrive Business Centre will focus on all things related to media rights and innovative ways to turn content into business. At the two-day StoryDrive Conference, publishers, marketing professionals, film and games experts are projected to redraw the boundaries of digital business. The Frankfurt Hot Spots reflect six topical issues facing the media and publishing business - including social media, mobile content and e-learning.
The publishing world of the 21st century is seen to be transforming into a content landscape. Multimedia formats like enhanced e-books or high-end computer games are said to be revitalising the way we tell stories. With transmedia storytelling, the focus is no longer on exploiting content chronologically; instead, various forms of media are already being factored in at the development stage. Against this background, strategic partnerships with other creative industries are becoming more and more important, as they provide even greater opportunities for turning content into business, it has been noted.
The Hot Spots are projected as centres of innovation. Each Hot Spot features an exhibition area and a Hot Spot Stage, where exhibitors can present the latest trends and innovative products. In addition, each Hot Spot is equipped with a special networking lounge that can be used for business meetings. Starting now, interested companies can register for the Frankfurt Hot Spots at www.hotspotfrankfurt.com.
StoryDrive is designed as a conference and marketplace in one. It is expected that professionals from all branches of the media will find just the material they are looking for here, or even build partnerships for interdisciplinary projects. With a packed programme of workshops, presentations, case studies and targeted matchmaking and networking events, StoryDrive will seek to set the course for the future of media.
This year will see the launch of the StoryDrive Business Centre, an exclusive lounge area for crossmedia rights and licensing. The centre will serve not only as a hub for negotiating traditional film adaptation rights, but also for building new collaborations across industry boundaries. The StoryDrive Business Centre is situated right near the "Literary Agents & Scouts Centre" (LitAg) in Hall 6.0 - at the heart of the Fair - and is reserved for agents registered in the LitAg, StoryDrive participants and their business partners.
