Freeslate to develop and sell Accelrys' Lab Execution and Analysis software -

Freeslate, Inc. and Accelrys, Inc. have announced that the latter has exclusively licensed the RAS and Polyview components of the Lab Execution and Analysis (LEA) software suite to Freeslate for automated research applications. While Freeslate is a provider of high throughput research systems, Accelrys is a provider of scientific innovation lifecycle management software.

Freeslate, owner of the Library Studio and Automation Studio modules of LEA, will now have the exclusive right to develop, sell, and support the entire LEA software suite for high throughput research. LEA will also be integrated with the Accelrys Enterprise Platform to include high throughput research data and insights as part of customers' overall information architecture.

The LEA software suite is claimed to be the market-leading software solution for supporting high throughput research. It reportedly creates a one-of-a-kind, integrated software environment that spans the entire experimental process, from design of experiments, to the execution of experiments and collection of data, to the analysis and presentation of data. The software supports integrated multi-instrument automation and experiment control with real-time data collection and data processing through a single application.

The Accelrys Enterprise Platform is claimed to be a scientifically-aware software platform that enhances organisational efficiency, improves collaboration and speeds innovation in lab-to-plant processes, enabling organizations to bring better products to market more quickly and efficiently. Using the Accelrys Enterprise Platform, companies can reportedly integrate all of their laboratory tools and applications to accelerate innovation and gain competitive advantage.

Within the LEA software suite, Library Studio allows scientists to design complex experiments for a variety of applications, including polymer formulation, catalyst synthesis, pharmaceutical API salt selection and crystallisation and biologics formulation. Automation Studio seeks to improve R&D productivity by automating and controlling multiple laboratory instruments. The experiment design, processing data and analytical data are then stored in a centralised, enterprise database where they can be searched and reported on.
