Frontiers has received two awards at the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) Annual Conference and Awards 2025, held on September 11, 2025 in Manchester, UK.
Frontiers for Young Minds (FYM), a non-profit science engagement journal from the Frontiers Research Foundation, was presented with the ALPSP Impact Award 2025 for its role in making science accessible to young readers. The journal enables children aged 8–15 to act as peer reviewers, supported by mentors, to ensure articles are engaging and understandable. To date, FYM has involved over 10,000 young reviewers, worked with 4,600 authors, and published content read 57 million times in 230 countries. Collections include Nobel Collections, the World Economic Forum’s Top 10 Emerging Technologies, the SDG Collection with the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), the Climate Change Collection with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and the Frontiers Planet Prize Collections.
In addition, Eleonora Colangelo, Public Affairs Officer at Frontiers, received the ALPSP Rising Star Award 2025. Her work focuses on research integrity, open science, and the role of scholarly publishing in science policy and governance.
The awards highlight Frontiers’ efforts to advance open science, engage young people in research, and contribute to policy discussions shaping the scholarly publishing sector.
