Open-access publisher Frontiers has announced its first-ever publishing partnership in Poland with the Polish Biochemical Society (PTBioch). As part of the agreement, the renowned journal Acta Biochimica Polonica will be published by Frontiers, marking a significant milestone for open-access publishing in biochemistry across Central and Eastern Europe.
Starting in August 2023, Acta Biochimica Polonica will begin accepting submissions through Frontiers' gold open-access platform. The journal's first papers under this collaboration are scheduled to be published in January 2024.
The Polish Biochemical Society, established in 1958, is a highly respected promoter and supporter of biochemistry research in Poland. Through initiatives like the annual Jakub K. Parnas Prize, the society has played a pivotal role in driving the growth of biochemical research in the country.
Acta Biochimica Polonica, the journal of PTBioch, was first launched in 1954. It is a peer-reviewed quarterly journal that publishes experimental and review papers in English, covering a wide range of biochemistry, biophysics, and molecular biology topics. The journal's scope includes enzymology and metabolism, membranes and bioenergetics, gene structure and expression, and other essential fields of biochemistry.
With this partnership, the Polish Biochemical Society joins Frontiers' expanding community of publishing partners in the biology and medicine domains. Notable partners include the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine, the Biomedical Research Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Biomedical Science, and other esteemed institutions.
Researchers affiliated with Frontiers' partner institutions in Poland may benefit from financial support in terms of Article Processing Charges (APC), facilitating their open access publishing endeavors.
