Gale, part of Cengage Learning and a publisher of research and education resources for libraries, schools and businesses, has announced the launch of Analytics On Demand, an innovative data analysis tool to help libraries discover key insights about their library community, who is and isn't using their resources, to better inform strategic planning, collection development, programming and to measure the impact of day-to-day decision making.
Analytics On Demand is the only solution available today offering library administrators ongoing access to detailed and customisable reports—providing household-level insights into the key demographics and usage patterns of their local community. Leveraging software from Alteryx, Inc., a leader in data blending and advanced analytics, Analytics On Demand enables libraries to quickly and easily apply external data sources like US Census statistics and MOSAIC consumer segments, to internal data output from their integrated library systems and other platforms, to discover the information needed to better serve existing users, as well as identify new customers.
Additionally, reporting is summarised at the household-level, rather than for a specific individual, which ensures the privacy of each library user and their data. Overall, Analytics On Demand will allow libraries to take a more human-centered approach to planning for and meeting the needs of their communities.
