e-research and educational publisher Gale, part of Cengage Learning, US, has announced two new titles that seek to explore every aspect of the environment. The titles are: The Encyclopedia of Environmental Ethics and Philosophy and Environmental Science in Context.
The Encyclopedia of Environmental Ethics and Philosophy includes the new field of environmental ethics, which is now a well-established sub-discipline of philosophy. The publication addresses the needs of upper high school students, undergraduate researchers, teachers and professors, as well as general readers by examining the philosophical and ethical issues underlying contemporary and historical environmental issues, policies, and debates. More than 300 peer-reviewed articles cover concepts, institutions, topics, events and people, including global warming, animal rights, environmental movements, alternative energy, green chemistry, industrial ecology and eco-sabotage.
Environmental Science in Context is cross-curricular in nature and supports both basic and advanced curricula in earth and environmental science, physics, chemistry and biology. It also supports general science, history, government and the social sciences. Written by experts in physics, geology, earth science, environmental science, sociology and law, the title includes about 250 articles on such topics as fossil fuel combustion, freshwater, international environmental law, landscape evolutions, orbital variations, recycling, weather and climate, wastewater treatment technologies and more.
