Gale names Stephen Abram as VP Strategic Partnerships and Markets -

E-research and educational publisher Gale, part of Cengage Learning, US, has announced the appointment of Stephen Abram vice president of strategic partnerships and markets, effective January 2010. He will report directly to Patrick C. Sommers, president, Gale.

In this newly created role, Abram will be responsible for leading efforts to strengthen Gale’s position as an experience-based products/solutions partner. He will focus on increasing outreach, advocacy work, and customers’ awareness of Gale as a library partner. He will also be responsible for identifying emerging technologies and techniques that can be incorporated into Gale’s products to enhance the user’s experience and expand the role of library partners.

Prior to this, Abram was vice president of innovation and chief strategist of the SirsiDynix Institute. His experience in the publishing environment also includes positions at Micromedia ProQuest, Carswell/Thomson Professional Publishing and Thomson Electronic Publishing.
