Georg Thieme Verlag is now publishing a new specialist journal 'Der Schmerzpatient'. It offers physiotherapists current knowledge from pain research and best practice examples for the treatment of acute and chronic pain.
More than 12 million Germans suffer from chronic pain, reports the Deutsche Schmerzgesellschaft eV. In the light of current research, chronic pain patients must be treated differently than before. Modern treatment approaches should go far beyond the prescription of analgesics or surgery, according to the editors of Der Schmerzpatient. The interdisciplinary nine-person editorial team consists of physiotherapists, doctors and psychologists, each of whom brings their view of the patient.
Readers will find current topics, best-practice examples and evidence-based knowledge from pain research in the new continuing education magazine. Experts discuss different approaches and multimodal therapies. Case studies from physiotherapy and other therapy groups make the mediated knowledge vivid.
