The Global Summit on Diamond Open Access is set to serve as a platform for collaboration and dialogue among journal editors, organizations, experts, and stakeholders from both the Global South and North. The aim of this unique event, scheduled to take place from October 23 to 27, 2023, in Toluca, Mexico, is to implement collective action in line with the principles outlined in the UNESCO and BOAI Recommendations on Open Science, with Equity, Sustainability, Quality, and Usability as the pillars of their work.
Jointly organized by Redalyc, UAEMéx, AmeliCA, UNESCO, CLACSO, UÓR, ANR, cOAlition S, OPERAS, and Science Europe, the Global Summit on Diamond Open Access will feature a series of hybrid and multilingual events. These include the 4th International Conference of Redalyc Journal Editors, the 2nd Meeting of AmeliCA members, and the 2nd Diamond Open Access Conference, which will bring together signatories of the Action Plan for Diamond Open Access.
Actors from all continents who share the vision of scientific communication for the common benefit are invited to participate in this landmark event. The summit aims to ignite a movement that recognizes and supports Diamond Open Access publishing, which facilitates unrestricted access to high-quality research without financial barriers.
