Golden Gate University selects FOLIO as the new library services platform with EBSCO Information Services support -

Golden Gate University Libraries (GGU) has chosen FOLIO, an open-source Library Services Platform (LSP), to enhance both the front and back-end experiences of its library systems. With the implementation supported by EBSCO Information Services, the transition is set to be completed by late Spring 2025, marking a significant step forward in the university's efforts to improve resource accessibility and management.

FOLIO’s open-source framework allows seamless integration with external applications, which EBSCO will facilitate to align with GGU’s new and existing collections and services. This integration is expected to enhance the end-user search experience through EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) and OpenAthens, ensuring easy access and discovery of the library's vast resources. Additionally, GGU will utilize Panorama for library analytics, which will merge diverse library and campus data sets, enabling data-driven decision-making to optimize library operations.

James Krusling, Executive Director of Golden Gate University Libraries, emphasized that adopting FOLIO is anticipated to streamline resource access, enhance search capabilities, and provide robust support for students' academic needs.

Kathy McCarthy, EBSCO Information Services Director of SaaS Innovation, noted that GGU’s adoption of FOLIO will significantly enhance the university's ability to manage its resources effectively.

EBSCO’s involvement extends beyond just the technical integration. With a global network of FOLIO consultants, EBSCO provides tailored implementation and data migration services in multiple languages, catering to the diverse needs of over 200 libraries worldwide that have already adopted FOLIO. This community-driven platform allows libraries, vendors, and developers to collaborate, creating new services and enabling quicker updates and development cycles.

Golden Gate University's move to FOLIO reflects a broader trend among academic institutions seeking more adaptable and innovative solutions for their library services. As GGU prepares for this transition, the university anticipates significant improvements in how it delivers resources to its students, faculty, and researchers, ensuring that the library remains a vital component of the university's academic mission.
