Golden Gate University transitions to FOLIO with EBSCO support to enhance library services -

The Golden Gate University Libraries (GGU) have completed the implementation of the FOLIO Library Services Platform (LSP), marking a significant step in modernizing its library management infrastructure. The transition, supported by EBSCO Information Services, involved replacing the university’s long-standing Millennium system with an open-source platform designed to improve flexibility and streamline library operations.

The implementation covers GGU’s Business and Law libraries and reflects the institution’s commitment to enhancing user experience and operational efficiency. EBSCO provided end-to-end services including hosting, migration, implementation, and ongoing support, enabling a smooth transition and alignment with GGU’s strategic priorities.

Through EBSCO FOLIO Services, GGU adopted a modular, open-source system that supports tailored configurations and encourages active participation in a global community of users and developers. The platform’s integration with tools such as EBSCO Discovery Service™, OpenAthens, and Panorama offers improved access and usability for library staff and patrons alike.

This implementation highlights the scalability of the FOLIO platform, demonstrating that institutions of varying sizes can benefit from open-source library solutions without overextending internal resources. The partnership model between GGU and EBSCO underscores how targeted support and structured planning can facilitate a successful transition and long-term sustainability in library technology.

By adopting FOLIO, GGU has positioned itself to leverage continuous innovations in library services, supporting both academic and administrative goals through improved resource management and enhanced digital infrastructure.
