Heart Rhythm Society appoints Dr. Sami Viskin as Editor-in-Chief of Heart Rhythm -

The Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) has announced the appointment of Dr. Sami Viskin as the new editor-in-chief of Heart Rhythm, the official journal of the HRS, the Cardiac Electrophysiology Society, and the Pediatric & Congenital Electrophysiology Society. Dr. Viskin will assume the role on January 1, 2024, succeeding Dr. Peng-Sheng Chen, who has served as editor-in-chief for ten years. Currently, Dr. Viskin holds the Chaim Sheba Chair of Cardiology at Tel Aviv University.

With an illustrious career in medical publishing, Dr. Viskin has served as Associate Editor for Europace, Heart Rhythm, and, until recently, Circulation. He has been a valued member of the Editorial Board of Heart Rhythm and has reviewed nearly 400 manuscripts for the Journal.

Dr. Viskin's research primarily focuses on ventricular arrhythmias, particularly polymorphic ventricular tachyarrhythmias associated with the long QT syndromes, idiopathic ventricular fibrillation, Brugada syndrome, and Purkinje-related polymorphic ventricular tachycardia. His contributions to the field are evidenced by the publication of 250 peer-reviewed articles. In recognition of his scientific achievements, Dr. Viskin was honored with the Pioneer in Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology award by the HRS in 2022.
