Medical and scientific publishing house Thieme Publishing Group has announced that Heike Schwabenthan, formerly an associate in the Rights Department, has been promoted and will now head the unit going forward.
A 13-year veteran of Thieme’s Rights Department, Heike Schwabenthan and her team handle the global sale of translation rights for all Thieme products produced in its publishing operations around the world. Heike Schwabenthan will also oversee the Thieme Group’s anti-piracy activities as well as permissions activities.
Following her training as retail bookseller and an additional training as economic correspondent, Heike Schwabenthan entered the publishing business as assistant to the senior associate at the academic publishing house E. Schweizerbart’sche Verlagsbuchhandlung.
Heike Schwabenthan succeeds Barbara Pfeifer, who recently left Thieme.
