Serials Solutions, a business unit of the US-based ProQuest LLC, has announced that its Summon web-scale discovery service has been selected by Helmut Schmidt University, University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg. The University selected the Summon web-scale discovery to offer their users a single starting place to discover the most relevant information from the full breadth of the content in the library's collections.
Ranking 4th place among German academic one-track libraries in 2010, the HSU Library serves the information needs of its academic community as well as the citizens of Hamburg and the general public of Germany. HSU Library specialises in the areas of engineering, economics, educational science, politics and psychology with a collection of over 770,000 print books, 130 databases and 25,000 full-text e-journals and 65,000 e-books. An important consideration during the selection process was the speed and ease of the implementation process.
