Heritage University’s Donald K. C. North Library will adopt FOLIO as its next-generation library services platform (LSP), with implementation and hosting support from EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO). The university will become the first academic institution in Washington to deploy the open-source platform through EBSCO, with a planned launch in spring 2026.
Serving nearly 1,000 students, the Donald K. C. North Library manages a collection of more than 65,000 volumes and operates with a small team. By migrating from its legacy system to FOLIO, the library aims to modernize operations through a flexible, scalable architecture that enhances discovery, reduces local infrastructure demands, and supports customization to institutional needs.
EBSCO FOLIO Services streamline adoption for libraries by delivering a fully hosted solution that includes implementation, maintenance, and ongoing support. More than 300 institutions globally use EBSCO’s FOLIO hosting and management services to simplify transition and ensure long-term sustainability. Heritage University will also integrate EBSCO Discovery Service™ (EDS) and GOBI with FOLIO to strengthen discovery and user experience.
FOLIO’s modular design supports libraries of all sizes and missions—from national and research institutions to smaller academic or community libraries—through open integration with complementary systems and services. Its environment accommodates expanding collections and evolving technology needs without the complexity of traditional integrated library systems.
By adopting EBSCO-hosted FOLIO, Heritage University joins a growing community of institutions transitioning to open-source library platforms to enhance efficiency, scalability, and user experience across their academic ecosystems.
