Hofstra University Libraries has announced its membership in the OCLC Research Library Partnership (RLP), further enhancing its support for academic excellence and research on campus. As a key hub for scholarly resources, Hofstra’s library system plays a vital role in fostering intellectual growth, providing faculty and students with access to a vast range of materials and services.
By joining the OCLC Research Library Partnership, Hofstra University Libraries will participate in leadership discussions on critical areas such as metadata management, special collections, and research support. Additionally, through the SHARES program—a global resource-sharing consortium—Hofstra faculty will gain access to collections housed in academic libraries, law libraries, art institutes, and museums worldwide. This membership significantly expands the university’s research capabilities, offering access to a wealth of resources beyond its own holdings.
The OCLC RLP focuses on four key areas to support research libraries:
• Research support
• Unique and distinctive collections
• Resource sharing
• Next-generation metadata
The partnership will also help Hofstra Libraries address contemporary challenges, such as those brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, and contribute to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion within the academic community. Hofstra joins more than 120 global institutions already participating in the OCLC RLP, furthering its commitment to providing cutting-edge support for research, teaching, and learning.
