The Frankfurt Book Fair has announced the appointment of Holger Volland as head of the Conferences / Creative Industries division of the Frankfurt Book Fair. In this new role, he joins the management team of Ausstellungs- und Messe GmbH.
Since the beginning of the year, Holger Volland has been developing an international conference programme for the Frankfurt Book Fair. He is also responsible for Frankfurt SPARKS, the digital initiative of the Frankfurt Book Fair, which was launched in 2010 with the Frankfurt StoryDrive and Frankfurt Hot Spots projects and will be further expanded this year.
Holger Volland comes to the Book Fair from the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels, where he served as head of marketing and communications until 2010. His responsibilities included spearheading the association's communications activities and strengthening the position of the book industry within the economy, in particular in the areas of culture, education and politics.
The Frankfurt Book Fair claims to be the biggest book and media fair in the world - with around 7,500 exhibitors from over 110 countries. It also organises the participation of German publishers at around 20 international book fairs.
