Open access publisher BioMed Central, US, has announced that its journal Human Resources for Health has launched an international joint special issue titled 'Towards a scaling-up of training and education for health workers'.
The issue is being brought out in collaboration with over 20 medical journals led by Human Resources for Health. Over the coming year, each journal will contribute in its own way to the theme of scaling-up training and education of health workers. The aim is to address the critical need for a skilled, sustainable health workforce internationally and in the developing world. Regular updates will also be posted on the Human Resources for Health blog.
Partnering journals that have already published their contributing issues, apart from Human Resources for Health, include American Journal of Public Health; Ciência & Saúde Coletiva; Croatian Medical Journal; Education For Health; and Open Medicine. Human Resources for Health will publish articles on this theme on an ongoing basis up to June 2009.
