ICE Publishing, the publishing division of the Institution of Civil Engineers, has announced the launch of a civil engineering ebook collection. The 2012 Complete ebook Collection includes 1,500 ebooks and features ICE Publishing's new 2011 and 2012 titles, as well as previously inaccessible material from the ICE Conference Proceedings Collection.
Also included in the digitisation process are the Institution's heritage titles dating back from the 18th Century. Pioneering works such as the reports of John Smeaton, who first coined the phrase civil engineering in 1760, and the biographies of engineers like Robert Stephenson and William Fairbairn, are available alongside latest titles, such as Construction Practice, Asset Management and Initial Professional Development for Civil Engineers.
The collection, which is available on ICE Publishing's existing Virtual Library, is fully searchable through full XML tagging and has enhanced discoverability due to its MARCUK and MARC21 records. Aimed at industry engineers, researchers, students and academics, it is available with subscription or perpetual rights access and users have varied purchase options, from a single chapter to the whole collection.
