IEEE announces participation at this year’s Web Summit -

IEEE has announced its participation in this year's Web Summit. Scheduled to be held from November 3-5 in Dublin, the Summit has become one of the world's most influential and international tech events.

IEEE is the exclusive sponsor and host of the Enterprise X dinner, comprising 150 of the world's leading IT executives and founders of the most innovative enterprise companies. This dinner, scheduled for November 2, connects the people driving innovation and technology at leading companies and startups around the globe. IEEE member Diogo Mónica will deliver opening remarks at the dinner, where he will discuss the parallel between the Web Summit and the IEEE Public Visibility Initiative, created to promote the field of engineering and the great work that engineers do to benefit humanity. Mónica serves as the lead of this IEEE initiative.

Mónica will be delivering a keynote on November 4, which will focus on securing content, especially in today's cloud-based world. In addition to his work with IEEE, Mónica serves as the security lead for Docker, an open platform for building, shipping, and running distributed applications, where he advises start-ups, programmers, development teams, and operations engineers on security and Internet of Things (IoT) issues.

Also representing IEEE at the Summit will be Dr. Kevin Curran, an IEEE Senior member and professor of computer science at Ulster University, who will serve as the MC on the Machine Summit stage on the afternoon of November 4. The panel of high-level speakers will be discussing wearables and the future of medtech.

Over the course of the three-day Summit, there will be over 500 world-renowned speakers, 10 stages, 2,000 worldwide startups exhibiting their ideas, over 200 satellite events, and 1,000 experienced investors.
