The Indonesian Academy of Sciences (AIPI) and international publisher Taylor & Francis have introduced a new open access journal intended to encourage collaboration across scientific disciplines and provide research insights for policymakers.
The Journal of the Indonesian Academy of Sciences will publish articles that are freely accessible worldwide. The journal is designed to cover a broad range of fields, including science, technology, mathematics, and social sciences, with the aim of reducing disciplinary silos and promoting diverse perspectives.
Editorial oversight will be provided by a board with wide geographical and disciplinary expertise. In addition to original research and review articles, the journal will include opinion pieces, commentaries, and a policy forum to connect academic findings with public policy implementation.
The publication is now accepting submissions across four sections: Biological and Medical Sciences, Economics and Social Sciences, Engineering and Technology, and Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
Daniel Murdiyarso, President of the Indonesian Academy of Sciences, stated that AIPI is committed to supporting interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary science-based evidence to facilitate dialogue among stakeholders. He added that the journal would highlight Indonesian research cases, emphasizing quality and novelty.
Katie Peace, Vice President of Academic Partnerships at Taylor & Francis, noted that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to publishing open and collaborative research. She explained that the journal is expected to provide greater visibility for Indonesian and international scholarship.
The journal aims to serve as a platform for researchers at all career stages, including early-career scholars, and to strengthen the connection between research and policy in addressing global challenges.
