Copyright licensing solutions provider Copyright Clearance Center (CCC), US, has announced the election of Laura N. Gasaway and Tarja Koskinen-Olsson to its Board of Directors.
Gasaway is Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Law at the University of North Carolina School of Law. She teaches courses in Copyright Law and Cyberspace Law in the Law School and Copyright Law for Librarians in the School of Information and Library Science. Additionally, she is past president of the American Association of Law Libraries, a Fellow of the Special Libraries Association and has served on and chaired various committees of both associations, including their Copyright Committees.
Koskinen-Olsson works as an international advisor on intellectual property issues, with rights management as a special focus. She served as President of the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organizations (IFRRO) from 1993 to 1999 and then as Honorary President from 2001 to 2009. In 2006, Koskinen-Olsson was elected a Member of the High Level Expert Group on Digital Libraries, a flagship initiative of the European Commission. Today, she lectures extensively at various training programmes organised by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and local organisers, such as the Patent and Registration Office in Sweden, the Norwegian Copyright Development Association (NORCODE), the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) and the Organisation Africaine de la Propriete Intellectuelle (OAPI).
