Ingram Digital announces record Q3 e-Book downloads -

Digital content services provider Ingram Digital, US, has announced that its Retail Solutions unit has enjoyed record third quarter growth with downloads more than double the same quarter last year. The company also announced that it has been selected by Adobe Systems Incorporated to collaborate in the development and testing of the recently announced Adobe Content Server 4, a new digital rights management solution that protects downloadable e-books viewed with Adobe Digital Editions. Adobe Digital Editions is Adobe's free client software for managing, protecting, and reading e-books.

With a very low cost of entry, the expanding e-book market enables publishers to generate additional revenue from existing content with minimal risk. In addition, as the handheld and wireless device markets continue to enjoy substantial growth, the opportunity for e-books grows correspondingly.

Ingram Digital currently offers more than 130,000 active e-book titles from more than 1,100 publishers. With support for multiple formats, Ingram Digital offers customers the flexibility to download books to PCs, PDAs, dedicated e-book readers, Smartphones, and with the eReader format, directly to iPhones. Currently, all five leading e-book formats are supported, including Adobe e-books as PDF and EPUB files, MS Reader, eReader, and Vitalbooks.
