INSAR and Wiley-Blackwell to publish new journal - Autism Research -

Wiley-Blackwell, the STM and scholarly publishing business of John Wiley & Sons, Inc, US, and the International Society for Autism Research (INSAR) have announced plans to launch a new journal - Autism Research. Anthony J. Bailey, Professor of Psychiatry, University of Oxford, will serve as Editor-in-Chief.

As the journal of the International Society for Autism Research (INSAR), Autism Research will cover the developmental disorders known as Pervasive Developmental Disorders or autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The journal will have a strong focus on basic genetic, neurobiological and psychological mechanisms and how these influence developmental processes in ASDs.

Each edition of the journal will feature one or more commissioned high quality review articles, editorials on current issues in autism research, original research articles and brief reports. The journal will contain summaries of key papers relating to autism research that have appeared in other journals since the last paper edition of the journal. There will also be space for items relating to the activities of INSAR, news of meetings and other activities likely to be of interest to the autism research community.

In addition, authors of original scientific papers and reviews will be asked to submit lay abstracts. Lay abstracts will appear on the INSAR website (http://autism-insar.org/) and will be made freely accessible to the public. The journal will also publish regular podcasts of interviews with authors and overviews of scientific meetings that will give both the public and other scientists a greater understanding of some of the background and implications of current scientific developments.
